For the sixth consecutive year, Buffalo Business First has named Merchants Insurance Group as one of “Western New York’s Top Private Companies.”
On the 2024 list, Merchants ranked 5th out of 46 private companies.
“Six consecutive years as a ‘Top Private Company’ reflects a pattern of excellence in the Western New York region, which we’re particularly proud of as a company with an almost 107-year history in Buffalo,” said Charles E. Makey, III, President and Chief Executive Officer of Merchants Insurance Group. “Success is a cumulative effort, and I appreciate the hard work of our dedicated colleagues, the collaboration of our strong independent agency partnerships, and loyalty of our valued policyholders.”
Published in the November 29th edition of the publication, this year’s results were determined based on financial data collected from 2023. Merchants earned an estimated $515.8 million in revenue in 2023, an approximate growth of 7.37% ($35.4 million) over 2022.
“We look forward to continued growth and success in 2025 and beyond!” Mr. Makey said.
The annual “Top Private Companies” list is comprised of Western New York-headquartered private companies that agreed to have their financial records reviewed by certified public accountants (CPAs) at Dopkins and Company LLP.
